My Experience

I have worked privately with clients for over twenty years since qualifying with Humberside University in 1996 and I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP). I am also currently a Counsellor with a local Registered NHS provider in Hull as well as having my private practice. I have experience of working within a Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Adolescent Child Care and Child Protection. My therapy work covers a wide range of areas such as stress prevention and management, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, work related stress, sexuality issues through serious illness, self-harm, bereavement, OCD and self-esteem issues. I worked within Humberside Police for over ten years delivering counselling and post trauma work on a one to one and group basis. Within this I have experienced many areas of therapeutic work with service personnel and their families which involved bereavement, suicide and self-harm. I have opportunities to offer consultative work of stress prevention and management to local companies and schools.

My teaching work has led me to working in a large city college setting for fourteen years offering education, group-work and pastoral care to students 16 years upwards. I currently teach Counselling Courses for a local Hull provider and have also taught counselling skills for the local City Council and within a large city college. I have also a diploma in stress management training and hold a Diploma in Sports Psychology.
